Baptist Church Volunteer Kidnaps, Rapes Teen Boy

A Shreveport teenager thought walking to school in the rain was a bad way to start the day. A church’s van pulling up to offer a ride seemed like a ray of hope. Not so much.

The unidentified boy accepted a ride from the driver of New Beginnings Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church’s van. The driver soon pulled a gun and kidnapped the boy, taking him to church instead of school. They weren’t going to pray.

The man, 34-year-old Robert James Washington, Jr., a church volunteer, directed the 15-year-old boy into the pastor’s study. There, he ordered the teen to strip . . . then raped him. Once satisfied, Washington drove the boy to school.

KTBS3 News of Shreveport and KSLA 12 of Shreveport report that Washington, a volunteer at the New Beginnings Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, did not know the boy. He is being held without bond pending an initial court appearance, and is charged with aggravated kidnapping and rape.

  1. This is one of the things that can really be scary about the way churches do things. They have people who are easily seen as members of a church and are given large amounts of trust they really haven't earned.

It also seems that people that use churches as covers are more easily able to hide their abuses. I go to another blog that focuses on people within churches that commit crimes of this type and thief of money. There are many times that people claiming to be members of the church come to these people defense.

  2. Well this just plain disgusts me.
I mean why is the guy being held in custody?
What about all the priests they got away with it. Does the church no longer stand up for its own? Shameful – the church should be raped sideways for abandoning its own…

Yes that was in jest. The guy should be hung drawn and quartered like all the other church rapists out there.

    • Pssst . . . Baptist churches aren’t Catholic, and don’t have dress-wearing priests.
