And yet these are the same people who have a nymph in their village fountain? Sheesh.

It is rather quaintly reminiscent of days gone by when people fled religious persecution in Europe to come to the New World where they would be free to persecute, prosecute, and execute in the name of Jesus. Almost makes me want to move to Stoudtburg Village and take up Christianity myself. Then again...nah.

Visited Stoudt Village today and heard of the event which occurred last month. I am saddened by the closed-mindedness of our neighbors, but not surprised. Religious freedom is one of the original rights to be documented by our nation, but we as a whole, are yet able to truly define. Apologies to all who may have suffered anguish, but know that "we are out there" and truly do approve of religious freedom. Hopefully one day all will be enlightened. So Mote it Be...

The right which allows the Christians the ability to form a prayer circle around the village is the same right which allows the pagans to have their celebration. I have always thought of Stoudtburg Village as a welcoming place almost set outside the norms of everyday life. It's different, an escape from the mundane world and society in which most of us live. Do all you can to keep that mystique and ambiance alive there. Realize that you do not have to believe in everything that others believe, but respect their right to have their own thoughts and beliefs. Disagreeing with someone else does not always mean there has to be anger or hatred involved. Most of the time it is okay to just disagree and move on with our lives.
