Pray to Heal Trig Palin of Down Syndrome?

I received this via email — one of the many notification lists I’m on — asking congregations all over to pray that Trig Palin is healed of his Down Syndrome. All on his second birthday, next April. A documentable miracle.

Jesus made some very specific promises about prayer. Particularly, that He would answer the prayers of Christians, and that His answer would be yes. We should show His Glory to the world by praying for Trig Palin to be healed of Down Syndrome.

Here are just three examples of His promise to answer our prayers:

Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

There was more, but I’ll leave it at that.

It’s a key point in the Bible and in Christianity that God answers the prayers of the faithful. It’s demonstrated every day, when congregations pray that Joe be healed of cancer, and that Martha have an uncomplicated pregnancy. If Martha miscarries, it was God’s Plan. If Joe is healed, it’s a miracle of God, not of the chemotherapy.

So, what to do about Pray4Trig?

I say, join up. Get the bumper sticker and put it on your car. Give one to a friend. Send emails to religious friends. Post it on web forums. Join their web forum.

Get as many people as possible to join in.

Then, when Trig’s chromosomal disorder remains completely unchanged after all that praying, have a chat with those religious friends and ask them why Jesus lied. Or was it that not one person in the thousands? millions? praying had true faith?
