Creation Museum Says Black People Are Cursed by Noah
Evolution vs. Creationism/ID, Religion & Science, Strange but True Thursday, August 13th, 2009Surprisingly — or not? — the Creation Museum openly promotes the belief that black people are the descendants of Ham, father of Canaan, whom Noah cursed to be “servant of servants”. This archaic belief, once used to justify slavery, seems to be on the rise again.
Ham? And was their mother Cheese? What are you talking about?
Ham was one of the three sons of Noah. You remember Noah, right? He’s the man who, with his wife, his three sons, and their wives, provided no warning whatsoever to anybody over the course of 100 years that the Lord was going to flood the Earth. (Not what you heard in Sunday School? Try the Bible, friend! Sister Shirlee’s RealBibleStories.com tells it like it is.)
After the Flood, Noah and family set forth to incestuously repopulate the Earth (Genesis 9). Noah decided that, since food was somehow abundant, despite the obliteration of all life on Earth, he should tend a vineyard and make wine instead of growing actual food. Apparently, Shem, Ham, and Japheth took care of growing the real food.
Noah gets hammered. Let’s see what happens!
Genesis 9: 18-27
18 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.
19 These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.
20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
So . . . Noah cursed Ham’s son, Canaan, to be “a servant of servants”.
According to the Creation Museum, Canaan and his descendants populated Africa. They were called [the nation of] Canaan, or Canaanites.
Populated Africa . . . That’d make them black folks, huh?
The argument that Noah cursed all of Canaan’s descendants has been used for centuries to justify the enslavement of black people. And Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum continues to promote this belief.
But, Ken Ham cries, I’m not racist! I even wrote a book about how not racist I am! It’s called One Blood: The Biblical Answer to Racism!
Well, I guess Ken can’t be racist at all. Let’s see what article he proudly posts on his Answers in Genesis website:
All races therefore have developed from this one family since the end of the flood in Noah’s day . . . The culture (technology and religions, etc.) of each racial group in the world started at a common point-Noah-with full knowledge of God and a sophisticated ocean liner technology. The current states of culture of the races, which varies from space age to stone age, from animal worship and spirit worship to Christianity, is not a result of innocent, ignorant people searching for improvement. It is a direct consequence of whether the ancestors of any race worshipped the living God or deliberately rejected Him.
That’s right. According to Ken Ham, those dark-skinned people in Third World nations are uneducated and starving to death and riddled with disease because their ancestors deliberately rejected his “god”.
What would Ken Ham have us do to remedy the situation? Terminate food and medical aid, and instead ship Bibles and missionaries? Great plan, that!
. . . not that I’d be offended if all the missionaries got sent to Africa, mind you.

The English versions of the Bible have been purposely mistranslated.
In the original Hebrew it explicitly grants Jewish People the right to keep and use all goyim as slaves.
That includes all the foolish Christians and Muslims who run around worshiping somebody else’s god.
Umm the Muslim God and Christian God are the same as the Jewish God?
Yes. You mean you didn’t know that?
That’s why the trio of monothiestic horrors are called “the Abrahamic religions.”
As mentioned earlier, the Bible is common to all three. Same traditions, same vengeful and malevolent god, same hatred of humanity. The whole history of warfare, strife, blood and horror is about who holds the copyright on the sequel.
IT ALL A LIE!!!
the bible is a load of CRAP!.. written by man, used by fools!
see the history of the bible, everything relates to an ancient pharaoh in Egypt a thousand years before “jesus”….
look it up!!
When Ken Ham needs is a good interfaith dialogue, amirite?
What would you hope to accomplish with that? Jews and Muslims believe the same thing; the Old Testament is common to all three.
I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.THEY SAY GOD IS ALMIGHTY RIGHT THEN WHO MADE GOD HIMSELF?WHO EVER MADE HIM HAS TO BE HIGHER THAN HIM.ALSO I DO TRUST THAT BLACK PEOPLE DID COME FR NOAH AND HIS FAMILY.I KNOW THAT BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE BEGINNING AND THE END TO ALL THINGS.
I think you’ve pressed your capslock key. You can turn it off now.
This is not new. I read the same interpretation in a Childrens Bible when I was a child in India. The blessed son migrated to Europe, the cursed son went to Africa. And my teacher explained that thats why Africans were backward and dominated by Europeans.
This is just Western racisim which was imposed on India and other places by the British.
More than one African leader has said: “When the Europeans came, they had the Bible and we had the land. The missionaries taught us to read the Bible and pray with our eyes closed. And when we opened our eyes, we had the Bible and the Europeans had the land”.
This ignorance is not suprising. I am of afro-carribean descent and I have lived my whole life under this racist, religious, misinformed, way of thinking. It forces many blacks that have darker skin to carry around the burden of low self-esteem.
I REALLY DONT THINK BLACK PEOPLE SEE THE BIGGER PICTRUE OF LIFE.WE MAKE LIFE WHAT WE WANT IT TO BE.PEOPLE PRAY AND PRAY TO GOD FOR SO MANY THINGS AND WHEN IT DOES NOT HAPPEN FOR THEM THEY GET MAD,WHY?NOTHING WILL HAPPEN FOR BLACK PEOPLE IF WE DONT GET OFF OUR ASSES AN DO IT OUR SELF.I THINK WE CONTROL OUR OWN LIVES.MAINLY BECAUSE THE CHOICES WE MAKE IN LIFE DOES SOMETIMES AFFECT OUR FUTRUE.ALL I AM TRYING TO SAY HERE IS THAT BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO OPEN THEIR 3RD EYE AND SEE THE TRUTH.THEY HAVE BE REBORN ALL OVER AGAIN.THERE ARE SO MANY DUMB,DEAF,AND BLIND PEOPLE IN THE WORLD IT MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH.WE ARE GODS OUR SELF IF YOU KNEW THAT.I AM ALWAYS WILLING TO GIVE THE TRUE FACTS TO A BROTHER IF HE REALLY WANTS TO NOW SOMETHING ABOUT HIM SELF.
AS a black man I have never been cursed, I am no more cursed by noahs drunken rants, than i am cursed by eves desire of apples, every man or woman is to be judged by every word that comes from their mouth, or whoso ever will or as we think so are we but this notion of fables holding curses over us is childish. It is clear to all who can see that God is moving among the chosen people of God, the created people who were cursed by the grafted people and are as we speak being robbed of their birth right. how can the people of no scripture preside over another peoples bible and pretend the Gods who set the stars in their geometrical patterns and lit the black universe with suns, who’s mode of travel is mind boggling, are not they a more advanced version of the hammites or elders of the planet, this is bigger than color!!
The white race as a whole has not documented or made 1 complete cycle of the sun the vernal equinox that is to say 1 full 25,000 year cycle. it takes 12 2100 year cycles to make a full journey of our sun and planet
Being as how food and medical aid doesnt seem to be making a heck of a lot of difference in 3rd world hell holes where rebel armies, corrupt governments and criminal gangs steal the shipments, maybe missionaries and Bibles would be a better alternative. Course we could also send typically arrogant smart mouthed atheists in and let them come up with some solutions. They do do solutions right? Not just whine?
I agree that throwing food and medical aid into overpopulated and unstable countries doesn’t help much. I suggest we tie food aid to population management strategies.
If they can’t bring their populations under control, they will never be stable . . . they will always fight over resources.
We did that already. Retard.
And yes, I most certainly do do solutions. Take over and destroy their governments and their rebel armies, and the corrupt gangs. Institute forced secular and scientific education and better living conditions, build some proper infrastructure, implement a Western-trained police and security force and come up with a sensible economy for the country, probably agricultural initially. Neutralise all indigenous religion and healing, and magical thinking, and promulgate basic hygiene and medical knowledge, contraception, female rights, and human rights. Seek out those among them with the vision to guide their people and give them the means and backing to do so. Foster an age of reason and enlightenment. Ask for nothing and take nothing. Leave.
The opposite of what the scum you want to send would do. Feel free to whine to your weak god about it.
[...] This article at the Paliban Daily explains the Creation Museum’s take on the subject. You see, Canaan — son of Ham, the servant of servants — moved into what is now northern Africa. [...]
How is it this website can claim atheism (which claims there are no gods, period) when every single article I've seen on here has been actively attacking Christianity and their 'invisible friend' while noticeably ignoring the faiths of billions of other people on this planet?
Have you read anything about the people that write these post? Why wouldn't an atheist attack religion when it is trying to or imposing its view on others not of that faith. If you haven't figured it out yet but most of the problems within this country are due to christian values. When muslims or other religions start to try and impose their values on the people off this country you will see atheist focus on them more.
Two reasons, TOB:
The authors are American, and therefore focus primarily on American and Western politics and how religion interacts with it. The dominant religion in Western cultures is what? Right, Christianity.
There are a number of articles here focusing on Islam as well, there just aren’t as many because it has less influence on the daily lives of Americans and our government.
Could it be that none of you are, in fact, atheists but are, rather, anti-Christians, doomed to continually attempt to malign Christianity only, as apparently all of you seem to have been abused by Catholic priests. (Or at the very least, under the impression that only Catholic priests abuse young children.)
I wouldn't say I am anti-christian but I am against them trying to force others to follow their religious beliefs which have been shown to be false and not in the best interest of this nation.
Is it ethically superior and enlightened to malign people simply because they believe in something, whereas you (as a general term meant to be all encompassing of the apparent population of disillusioned bloggers who have no better cause than to condemn others (oh wait, isn't that bigotry???) ) apparently can't wrap your minds around the idea that something out there is more important than yourself?
Christians often seem to assume that the only possible reason not to believe is an inability to do so, or a failure of the imagination, or some sort of moral weakness. Why is this, I wonder?
I would have thought it was obvious that most people actually just don't agree with the reasoning and don't believe that the "something out there" is actually there… rather than that they are unable to conceive of it. I can pretty much imagine anything I like, including god, but this is not the same thing as saying that he is real.
I would be genuinely interested to know whether you are actually capable of recognising the distinction. Please respond.
In answer to your other points, I doubt if anyone is seriously under the impression that only Catholic priests abuse children. But on the other hand, it's only Catholic priests who declare themselves to be moral guardians, shepherds of the innocent, and servants of god, and go around attempting to repress most sexuality in others. I expect it does little to endear them to us when we discover that, in their quieter moments, they have been holding down sobbing innocent children, raping them for their own sick (and let's not forget, utterly evil, according to them) pleasure, and then either threatening them into silence or convincing them that it's their own fault.
I think most people would agree that is much worse than just an ordinary person committing the same crimes. It makes them basically the most evil people imaginable, and if you ask me then such worms should be excommunicated, declared heretics in extremis, and roasted alive as slowly as possible. Instead, they are protected, excused, or seen as troubled souls who have made mistakes.
As for not judging people by their beliefs, how would that even be possible? What you believe, and why, reveals a great deal about you.
In the case of religious belief, I would argue that at best it reveals fundamental weaknesses in the ability to think and reason correctly, intellectual or moral cowardice, or simple childishness. At worst, however, I would argue that it reveals far more – an individual willing to cast aside all reason and morality and betray his own species to a supernatural entity of unknown origins simply for his own selfish gain. I just honestly cannot see any actual difference between worshipping god and worshipping the devil. In both cases, you are abrogating your responsibilities as a sentient being to make an honest effort to discover how best to exist, and it sickens me more than you could ever comprehend.
The only tiny mitigating factor in all this evil is that in all likelihood such people are not honestly capable of doing any better.
Maybe you should show the respect you so flagrantly demand of others TO others and judge not by a person's belief (or dis-belief, as the case may be), but by the individual's merits only, and stop thinking that such flagrant stereotypical bigotry is only becoming when it is uttered from the mouths of fools who think the same way as you.
I will show others as much respect as they show me. Christians have no respect for those that think different then them. Grow up and learn what christians really are.
I left Christianity after reading the Bible a couple of times. Atheism came later.
[...] In this segment they bring in notable Answers in Genesis whack ball Ken Ham try to refute the guy. You might remember Ken from the infamous “Creationism Museum” in KY, you know the one where they imply that all black people are cursed. [...]
Ultimately God is not racist, and He is not swayed by our arguments for or against a group of humans He loves. Moses' wife was Ethiopian – do you think that he chose her because she was uniquely adapted to servitude by basis of her ancestry? LOL, Moses was raised a prince, and I am sure his wife was no servant, nor was she cursed, nor was she white OR semitic. Racism is how humans defend their fears and the Bible states that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.
Christians who fear and hate forget Whom they follow.
