National Leave Work Early Day – June 2
Views Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009That’s right, today is National Leave Work Early Day or, as we like to call it, National Steal from Your Employer and Show Why the American Economy is Failing Day.
Today, people across the nation are leaving work early, off to galavant in the sun. Not only is this not actively discouraged by the media; it’s celebrated!
The Examiner writes:
June 2nd is one of those weird and obscure holidays you’ve got to love. It’s National Leave Work Early Day and whatever will we do with the extra time, assuming your boss has a sense of humor and doesn’t fire you. Here’s ten things you can do with your ‘Leave Work Early’ time. See videos below.
Suggestions include working out, going to a Farmer’s Market, having an affair with a co-worker (or two), and taking a hike.
We’d like to rename this travesty, as mentioned above, “National Steal from Your Employer and Show Why the American Economy is Failing Day” or perhaps “National Failed Work Ethic Day” for short.
On National Failed American Work Ethic Day, we suggest that you:
Stay at work unless your boss has authorized you to use some vacation time or leave without pay.
Take off early and work on your resume. Given our current high (and rising) unemployment rate, there are plenty of others willing to work. Don’t come back tomorrow.
Consider the Japanese work ethic, and compare it to your own. How do you stack up?
What other fun activities can you think of to celebrate National Failed American Work Ethic Day?
