What's RIGHT about Rick Warren?
In part one of this two-part mini-series, we’ll look at all the things the RIGHT loves about about Rick Warren, the pastor chosen by Obama to lead his Inaugural Invocation.
There’s plenty they praise Rick Warren about.
We all know that he was an outspoken proponent of California’s Proposition 8, under which the Godly, heterosexual majority stripped same-sex couples of their hard-won legal right to marry. In fact, that’s . . . pretty much how he expressed his support:
. . .every culture and every religion…not just Christianity…has defined marriage as a contract between men and women.
There is no need to change the universal, historical definition of marriage to appease two percent of our population.
Warren here puts the whole thing in perspective. We’re not talking about a lot of people. We’re talking about MAYBE 2% of the United States population, only 2 of 100 people! Why should we as a nation incur God’s wrath in order to allow a minority of the population to feel “equal”, when the Bible clearly says they are not?
- What’s RIGHT #1: Rick Warren can put issues in perspective.
We’re all familiar with that issue, of course. It’s been all over the news! Let’s move on to some other things that are RIGHT about Rick.
Rick is well aware that homosexuals are character-deficient, and loves to tell people about it.
In this MSNBC interview, he explains why:
Ann Curry: If science finds that this is biological, indisputably, not something that can be explained in any other way except that people are born to be gay, would you change your position?
Rick Warren: No. And the reason why–
Ann Curry: Why?
Rick Warren: I’d be happy to tell you why. The reason why is because it doesn’t matter to me. If it’s biological, we’ll be glad to know. We all have biological predispositions. Some people struggle with anger. And other people say, “I don’t struggle with anger, but I sure struggle with fear.” Some people say, “Oh, I don’t struggle with this. I struggle with being shy.”
Ann Curry: You’re saying if it’s part of your biology, it’s your job to struggle against it if, in fact, it’s the wrong–
Rick Warren: Well, here what I’m saying. I’ve had many gay friends tell me, “Well, Rick, why shouldn’t I have multiple sexual partners? It’s the natural thing to do.” Well, just because it seems natural doesn’t mean it’s best for you or society. I’m naturally inclined to have sex with every beautiful woman I see. But that doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. And why should I reign in my natural impulses and you say, “Well, because I have natural impulses towards the same sex, I shouldn’t have to reign them in.” Well, I disagree. I think that’s part of maturity. I think it’s part of delayed gratification. I think it’s part of character.
Now, see how Rick has clearly explained the lack of character in the homosexual? First, instead of talking about homosexuality itself, he brings up the fact that all homosexuals he knows have commented that they should have multiple sex partners; that is, unregulated, hedonistic orgies of animal lust. This, we can understand from his comments, is the REAL “gay agenda”, to make polyamory “normal”!
Warren then demonstrates that all same-sex lusting, even in the context of a monogamous relationship, is exactly the same as him having promiscuous sex with any woman he wants, even though he has vowed monogamy with his wife. It’s a matter of character, and maturity. Heterosexuals have it, Warren says. Homosexuals don’t.
- What’s RIGHT #2: Rick Warren clearly demonstrates why homosexuals lack character and maturity.
Rick Warren isn’t some one-note preacher like Fred Phelps, however. No! He’s RIGHT on other things, too!
In this Hannity and Colmes interview, Warren explains why the US government should assassinate Iran’s legitimate leader, Ahmadinejad.
HANNITY: All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. OK, so with that understanding, there’s always going to be human evil. The question is, can you eradicate it. In other words, the whole issue came up. Can you — can you talk to rogue dictators.
Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust, wants to wipe Israel off the map, is seeking nuclear weapons.
WARREN: Yes.
HANNITY: I think we need to take him out.
WARREN: Yes.
HANNITY: Am I advocating something dark, evil or something righteous?
WARREN: Well, actually, the Bible says that evil cannot be negotiated with. It has to just be stopped. And I believe…
HANNITY: By force?
WARREN: Well, if necessary. In fact, that is the legitimate role of government. The Bible says that God puts government on earth to punish evildoers. Not good-doers. Evildoers.
The man who will lead the invocation to President-Elect Obama’s administration has demonstrated that he is at odds with Obama’s buy-the-world-a-Coke aims:
- What’s RIGHT #3: Rick Warren promotes assassinating our political opponents in God’s name.
Finally, gender equality. Rick Warren supports a Biblical view of relations between men and women. Specifically, Ephesians 5: 22-24 (KJV):
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Some people are offended by his following of God’s Word. But:
- What’s RIGHT #4: Rick Warren puts God’s commands over modern-day, anti-Christian ideas such as “gender equality”.
Yes, there are many things RIGHT about Rick Warren! Can you think of any others you’d like to share?
Next time, we’ll cover what’s LEFT about Rick Warren. If we can find anything!
