Obama’s Purpose-Driven Inauguration

President-Elect Barack Obama further polished his credentials as a Democrat in Name Only (a real live DINO! Scientists claim they’re extinct . . .) today, announcing that Rick Warren, the evangelical Christian and social conservative author of “The Purpose-Driven Life” and other bestselling screeds, would deliver the invocation at his Presidential inauguration.

Liberals and gay rights advocates are enraged.

Let’s take Andrew Sullivan of the Atlantic. “Shrewd politics, but if anyone is under any illusion that Obama is interested in advancing gay equality, they should probably sober up now.”

I thought Obama stated unequivocally that he was against gay marriage during the campaign.

Oh, right. He did. Yet folks at the Human Rights Campaign seem to think he supports them anyway!

People for the American Way are equally upset, saying there’s “no difference” between Warren and Focus on the Family‘s James Dobson.
